Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara to Ulleri
Trek Distance : 10km
Highest Altitude : 2050m.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1,070m), which takes about 1.5 hours. The road winds through beautiful countryside, terraced farmlands, and small villages. At Nayapul, you’ll begin your trek officially. From Nayapul, the trail follows the Modi Khola (river) through lush forests and traditional settlements like Birethanti and Tikhedhunga. After a relatively gentle walk, you’ll face a steep ascent to Ulleri (2,050m) via a long stone staircase—over 3,000 steps. This is the most physically challenging section of the day, but it's a great early test of stamina. You’ll reach Ulleri by late afternoon, a peaceful Magar village offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and snow-capped peaks in the distance.
Day 2: Ulleri to Ghorepani
Trek Distance : 8km
Highest Altitude : 2860m.
On Day 2, you’ll continue your ascent through dense rhododendron forests and small villages, gradually gaining altitude. The day starts with a moderate climb through Oak forests and terraced fields, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills. As you make your way up, the trail becomes steeper in places, but it’s generally a manageable pace. Along the way, you’ll pass through villages like Banthanti and Nange Thanti, where you can stop for short breaks and enjoy the tranquil mountain surroundings. After about 4–5 hours of trekking, you’ll finally reach Ghorepani (2,860m), a beautiful village located at the base of Poon Hill. Ghorepani is one of the most popular stopping points on this trek, known for its stunning views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). In the evening, you can rest in the teahouses, and if you arrive early, take a short walk around the village to acclimatize.
Day 3: Ghorepani to Tadapani (via Poon Hill)
Trek Distance : 10-12km
Highest Altitude : 2630m.
Day 3 begins early with a sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), one of the most famous viewpoints in the Himalayas. From Ghorepani, it’s a 45-minute to 1-hour ascent to Poon Hill. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other surrounding peaks. Watching the sun rise over these majestic mountains is a memorable experience. After enjoying the views and taking some photos, you’ll return to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing your trek. The day’s trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,630m) is a moderate descent through rhododendron forests and open meadows, with occasional views of the mountains. You’ll pass through villages like Deurali and Banthanti along the way. The trail involves a mix of gentle downhill and some uphill sections, but overall it’s a comfortable walk. By the time you reach Tadapani, you’ll have completed a rewarding trek with beautiful forest views and a tranquil mountain ambiance. Tadapani is a small village nestled in the forests, and the evening here is peaceful, with glimpses of the Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre peaks.
Day 4: Tadapani to Chhomrong
Trek Distance : 10km
Highest Altitude : 2170m.
Day 4 starts with a descend from Tadapani through dense rhododendron forests and small settlements, offering a serene and scenic walk. The trail gradually leads down to the Kimrong Khola, where you’ll cross a bridge and start the climb up towards Chhomrong. The uphill walk from the river valley to Chhomrong is moderate but steady, with some steep sections, especially towards the end. Chhomrong (2,170m) is a beautiful village perched on a ridge, offering stunning views of the Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peaks. As you approach Chhomrong, the landscape begins to change, with more exposed views of the mountains and fewer trees. The village itself is known for its traditional Gurung culture and hospitality, and you’ll likely find a few teahouses to rest in. Chhomrong is an excellent place to spend the night, offering a peaceful atmosphere with dramatic mountain backdrops.
Day 5: Chhomrong to Bamboo
Trek Distance : 8-10km
Highest Altitude : 2,310m.
On Day 5, you’ll begin the trek by descending steeply from Chhomrong to the Kimrong Khola (river) again, crossing a bridge before beginning your ascent on the opposite side. The trail then leads through a dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron trees, offering some of the most tranquil sections of the trek. As you continue the climb, you’ll pass through small settlements like Sinuwa and Bamboo, which sits at an altitude of around 2,310m. The trail is mostly gentle and steady, though there are some uphill stretches as you make your way to Bamboo, which marks the transition into the upper reaches of the valley, closer to the base camp. Bamboo (2,310m) is a small settlement, often quite peaceful, and offers basic teahouse accommodations. This is a great place to rest and recharge after a day of steady trekking.
Day 6: Bamboo to Deurali
Trek Distance : 10km
Highest Altitude : 3200m.
On Day 6, the trek continues from Bamboo (2,310m) towards Deurali (3,200m). The trail starts with a steady climb through dense forests and increasingly alpine terrain. The route follows the Machepuchhre Base Camp path, passing through Dovan and Himalaya, both small settlements where you can take a break before continuing on. As you ascend, the vegetation gradually changes from thick forests to more open, alpine landscapes. The trail becomes a bit more exposed, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Hiunchuli. This section offers a peaceful atmosphere, with fewer trekkers and a more remote feel as you get closer to higher altitudes. Finally, after 5–6 hours of steady trekking, you will reach Deurali, a small, isolated stop at the edge of the Annapurna Sanctuary. The teahouses here provide a cozy resting place, and the surrounding mountains provide an impressive backdrop as you prepare for the next day’s final push to Annapurna Base Camp.

The air becomes thinner as you climb, but the landscape opens up to reveal views that make the effort worth it. After a break at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, the trail continues as you climb steadily towards Annapurna Base Camp. As you approach the base camp, you’ll be entering the Annapurna Sanctuary, an amphitheater of towering peaks that includes Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and Gangapurna. After an unforgettable experience at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), Day 8 marks the beginning of your descent. The trek back to Bamboo (2,310m) is all downhill, but it’s still important to take it slow and steady, especially as you are now descending from a high altitude. You’ll start the day by retracing your steps down through the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail will initially follow the same route as your ascent, passing Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m) and continuing through Deurali (3,200m) and Dovan. As you descend, you’ll notice the change in the environment, with the landscape becoming more forested again and the air gradually becoming thicker. The descent can be taxing on the knees, so be mindful of your pace. You’ll reach Bamboo by the late afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy the quieter, lower-altitude environment. The evening is peaceful, with a chance to rest and recover after your high-altitude adventure.
